my art's looking more angular as time goes on

trying to make my art look like how i think people feel art "should" look always results in something i don't like. this includes blocking things out with spheres and cubes and cylinders and guidelines -- the result's always been stiff and clumsy when i've tried doing that

for a long time i guess i was fighting how i naturally draw. the lines that come out of my hand are kind of angular and jagged, and refining that into smooth curves kind of sucks the life out of them

that drawing with the huge doink i did for my friend's birthday (@xouual on twitter) felt like my style finally came together when i made it. i still consider it kind of a reference for how my art really "should" look -- sometimes i'll have it open just to reference the general look of it. i didn't feel like i was fighting how i naturally draw at all with it

the other images (besides the other one for xouual) came after and have a similar sort of line quality. the one where candy's got her tiddies out was made as an example for what i think i'd like a comic to look like

these are all from like mid 2019. i haven't been drawing much at all lately because of the usual bullshit (depression etc)
