(in response to the discussion at the end) Personally with me my favorite star trek episodes are the ones where they discuss ideology and politics, they usually always have the best writing but i like most star trek episodes. The reason why WW2 stuff is so common for them to go back to is cause its the point in history that even people that know barely anything about history at least know a tiny bit of detail about it, and its a point history where humanity was at its darkest point compared to the star trek universe where humanity is suppose in this perfect utopian world the complete opposite. holodeck episodes are always a hit or miss but i think they did them better in TNG and DS9 but you probably wont like them there either lol
