Frodo does get quieter through the movie , it seems as though as the movie progresses the ring is kinda consuming his energy, also Gandalf isn’t his uncle he’s a friend of Bilbo who is Frodos uncle

When they first "won" the first battle many rulers were there and died in the fighting As a result of being leaderless people tend to turn to civil war when they are leaderless. Blades need to be sharpened regularly to be pointy and well sharp thats why stryder was surprised when he pricked himself but there is magic in LOTR so they can preserve stuff longer then they would in our world
