Do you know when a beta version will be available? :) Thanks!

Yes, that does work on the Mednafen core!

One more thought on the matter. But the psx sometimes went to the menu if the disk read failed. Can retroarch run the bios without a cd?

Yes, the challenge would be reliably detecting *where* to corrupt for each game, targeting only graphical or audio data, and for multiple systems. Maybe if it works for just one system, it could still be worth it.

Looks like on at least on NES, getting that result might be relatively straightforward. I'm a bit tied up at the moment, but as a programmer myself, I'd be curious to see if I could whip up (Or if one already exists) a corrupter to only go after graphical data. Then when the easter egg is to be invoked, have EmuVR's call to Retroarch to load the game be preempted by a call to the corrupter (Which as small as NES games are, should take milliseconds) before feeding a corrupted copy to Retroarch.

To me, it should be exactly as you just said. It should be very visible to the player, and quickly; crashing or not. Otherwise, if it happens too late or too subtle to be noticed right away, or even if it just crashes to a black screen, it wouldn't be a fun easter egg, but just annoying or frustrating to the user.

What would entail a suitable result? Would the goal be to get reliable graphical glitching without actually crashing the game? Or simply to ensure that however the game breaks, it break quickly and noisily?

It could, but it's not seamless or reliable, as you need to tweak with trial and error for each game until you get a suitable result (in some techniques, tweaking in realtime). Also, that's not implemented into Retroarch. Using this method, it would only be possible to glitch games with pre-glitched ROMs already in your folder.

Would something like Rom corruption emulate that properly?

Well, both. :)
It really is stuck on the boot screen, and if the user wants it, it could be set so one of their PS1 would do that unless they turn it upside down.
We also wanted to make (if the user enables a setting) so cartridge games would have a small chance of glitching when booting until users blow into them, but we're still to find how to reliably, manually and effectively "glitch" a game using Retroarch. Our last resort would be simulating it with shaders.

Was this just setup as a joke, or will there be actual ways for a game to not start ?
