Poll - Patreon tier benefits
Added 2024-04-15 11:35:12 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
Ever since starting this Patreon page, I have been thinking about Patreon benefits.
Mostly because I didn't want to paywall my stuff initially (that went out of the window with Steam, though) but also because my time is pretty limited due to my job and the family.
But I always kinda felt I owe you guys more for your support.
So I gathered a few things other creators provide as benefits for their tiers and wanted to get your opinion on that stuff.
Be aware that some stuff (monthly special renders for example!) will take away from development time!
One thing that needs a bit more explanation is the "tiered releases" option.
Most of you already know what it means since it's a common habit for AVNs.
In short: the higher your tier, the earlier you can access the game.
To give you an example (and it IS just an example):
- Sergeant tier and above get access when the new Chapter is done.
- Chaplain tier gets access when the chapter is released on Steam and Itch
- Mercenary tier gets access 2 weeks after Chaplain
The beta access on Steam is exactly that.
Access to the Beta ~ 2 weeks before the release and it IS a Beta, not an Early Access.
It will lack achievement images and minor stuff, it might contain bugs.
It's not a promo beta or soft launch like we're used to these days.
Final Disclaimer:
That's all just brainstorming at the moment. Nothing is set in stone yet.

Hey Vleder, Thanks a lot for your lengthy post and opinion. I didn't think about the potential "problems" (outside effort) for the special renders. You don't even need to have "controversial" themes for them to become problematic. It's probably enough that you can't do everyone justice. Some people will always feel that "their" girls are not getting enough attention compared to others. Steam (and maybe itch) keys are planned for patrons. For everyone, as long as the added up amount exceeds the Steam price. It's not yet in the tier description because it's not released on Steam yet. And of course thanks for the nice words and your support here :-)

2024-04-20 10:46:33 +0000 UTCA little late for the party but here's my declaration of vote anyway. Any extra work you put in that's honing your skills and exercising your creativity will get my full support. That usually results in you sharing it with us, like you've been doing and that's more that enough. More important than that, it contributes to improve the game. About monthly renders, I've always hated them. I don't think they contribute to the game and you'll be opening a door to "special" requests from patrons that may start friction with other patrons, a matter on wich I'll not elaborate here. Just know that other devs just refuse to do those. Furthermore they are a chore. They add to your list of chores and that takes it's toll on your development time and ends up hindering your criativity. On the matter of tiered releases, you should consider some sort of "seniority" status for your patrons. Other devs I'm suporting offer imediate access (as well as itch or steam keys) to long time supporters or those who have exceeded a certain amount. By a matter of principle, I never subscribe to high tier releases. I believe in small efforts times many. A project I'm supporting (over three years now) doesn't even have my tier anymore; they've created a special "Legacy" tier for my support... Others, I just told them I would be better off subscribing on and off when an update comes out, instead of keeping my support throughout the months in between and then waiting two weeks or a month before it drops to my tier. I think you're doing a great job and your concern with your patrons also show that. But I would like you to invest all your (healthy) effort in the game. This, of course, is just my opinion and experience.

2024-04-15 15:00:20 +0000 UTCI agree with the above, I am not looking for anything extra (unless it's Mebd then yes please with bells on.). I just like supporting projects I enjoy and hope they don't fall in to the abandoned category (although that not always worked out) Oh and of course being annoying on your discord :)
