I thought maybe the guy at the beginning that was talking to otae and yaguu were different people at one point, since the beginning looked like a boy and yaguu looked like a girl, i thought maybe the kid at the beginning told yaguu about the promise, but no of course they're the same person and he now wants to take the sister for marriage because of the childhood promise they made.
Seeing the shinsengumi teaming up with the yorozuya is just a dream man. Kondo saying, we're not friends but we're fighting the same fight, opens door for the future of the series and hope we can fight together more.

“You” is quite uncommon in Japanese, so it’s probably more natural in that situation to say “Tae-chan”
