Re Zero Season 2 Episode 12 13 LIVE REACTION

(Just a disclaimer this is just my thoughts and I'm myself are watching along with Khan not knowing what might be true or not) I still find it insane that Roswaal catches on to something not being his way. My guess is Roswaal initially wanted to kill Subaru and see Subaru as obstacle at first when he arrives at the mansion. He probably already know about weird things happening when Elsa tries to retrieve back the insignia and failed because of Subaru and decides to kill him in the mansion. But for whatever reason, Subaru managed to escape death and that is probably the moment Roswaal understand something weird is happening and decide to use Subaru for his goal. Again this is not at all a spoiler and just my thoughts on the episode since I have never watched this season before or read it.

I still don't understand 😭😭😭

Khan, you seem to understand what's going on more than you think. Don't worry too much about not completely understanding Roswaal's dialogue. Without any spoilers, this is a breakdown of the main points of this episode, as I understand them at least: Roswaal has a certain goal that he has been working towards for a very long time, and he has discovered that Subaru possesses a godlike power that allows him to time-loop (though he doesn't know that Subaru needs to die in order to loop). He decides to take advantage of Subaru and his power because he believes the power can help him achieve his goal. He intentionally puts Subaru in situations that stretch his power to its limits (first the Witch Cult's attack on the village and mansion in season 1, and now the trials in the Sanctuary and the assassin' attack on the mansion in season 2), requiring him to loop over and over in order to gain information, win over new allies (such as Crusch's faction), and "sharpen his revolve," as Roswaal puts it. Roswaal explained in this episode what he means when he says Subaru will be "perfected." To him, Subaru will be "perfected" when he is capable of focusing on and achieving one single goal, while making any sacrifices that are necessary along the way. In this situation, that means choosing to either sacrifice the mansion in order to save the Sanctuary, or vice versa. You may notice that this mindset is essentially the same as what Echidna suggested when she wanted to make a contract with Subaru. If they teamed up, Echidna would want to sacrifice people or things that would be deemed "unnecessary" in order to achieve a goal. You can essentially view Roswaal's and Echidna's mindset as being the "Bad Ending." Reaching a goal while making certain sacrifices along the way, allowing a few deaths here and there if they help achieve the goal. On the other hand, Subaru's mindset would be the "Good Ending," or the "True Ending." Reaching the ultimate goal, while also saving the lives of all of your allies along the way, even if doing so is extremely difficult. According to Roswaal, Subaru becoming "perfected" will mean that he and his power will be of more use to him, which makes sense, because when Subaru is truly locked in and willing to die as many times as it takes in order to achieve one singular goal, he is essentially invincible. However, this reckless mindset of throwing away his own life over and over goes against what Satella wishes for him, which is to love himself more. She wishes for him to rely less on Return by Death, trying to do everything by himself, and instead ask for help from the people who care about him, his allies. When she says this to him, it's a lightbulb moment for Subaru. He was so trapped in his self-loathing that he never even considered that the people who he loves actually care about him as well; that he doesn't have to try and put all the problems on his own shoulders. The two sides are basically this. Roswaal and Echidna: "Fuck Subaru's heart and his mental health, Return by Death is a tool to be abused as many times as necessary, in order to achieve the goal." Satella: "Return by Death is there to save Subaru if he truly needs it, but it should not be relied upon, because dying causes Subaru pain and grief, as well as grief for the people who care about him, and he should instead ask for help from his allies and share his problems so that he and his allies can solve them together." Thank you for reading my novel
