Yeah that is insane at the end where the woman literally puts her husbands condition 2nd in that situation. Now she experienced shonen bat assault within the family she gets a flipping buzz from it lol. Shonen bat is becoming a phenomenon manπ. That scene with that man on the island and you see shonen bat coming out the ocean was mental, I canβt help but look at that as that you canβt escape him and maybe he is everywhere in some weird way. Even in the womb yoππ. In some way as much as heβs a threat to japan, heβs looked at some sort of figure too. Also it feels like some scenes can be taken differently from viewer to viewer right, thereβs no real concrete answer given. Guess that makes it that much more good Love crimy fam. Been a journey so farβ€οΈ

2025-07-02 06:11:33 +0000 UTCYou enjoy this episode more once you realize it's essentially a short film compilation with the segments produced by different teams or writers and key animators, each time giving their version of the shounen bat rumors, and the entire episode being titled "ETC" for "et cetera" implying that the stories were only snippets and an unspecified number of things happened after. It's a pretty fun gimmick that talks about paranoia alongside the feeling of wanting to belong, which drives people to make up stories that might be mixed with real stories they've heard but forcibly attaching shounen bat's name in them for shock value and most importantly to be included. To the point the 3 housewives outright lie to that younger woman that they collectively saw Shounen bat in the act, almost like they all subconsciously know that all of them are lying but at least they're in it together, leaving her excluded, and once that girl saw her husband a victim of shounen bat in the end she saw it as a way to "fit in" before even considering her husband's safety. Also great breakdown Khan, you opened my eyes on some aspects I've missed too, very fun watch!

The idea of Shonen Bat has become a public urban legend, an idea that he'll come for all those in a place of stress and people who are cornered. Most of these stories likely happened but the idea of Shonen Bat being a part of them becomes more and more far fetched. Society's version of Chinese whispers that seeds an idea of paranoia within everyone. Really loved the fact you've invested into this show because it really does reward you for watching, paying attention, re-watching and then paying even more attention because it's a really thought provoking series. As for whether I managed to get all of my thoughts on episode 8 in one go? Absolutely not, I only figured out about the shadows at the end and that they were dead, everything else was on subsequent watches.
