I feel like the subtitles worded it weirdly.. cause while he activates his power he goes through everything but everything also goes through him.. hence not being able to breathe, smell, hear or see anything. Therefore he has to predict everything before he activates his quirk cause only after he releases it he will know if it actually played out or not.. such a difficult and scary quirk to use.
