wanna see what you’s say, and please dont just click on opscans because it apparently comes out first, if it’s actually the best then by all means click on it.

I completely agree. Seeing some of the official translations from Khan's reaction lessened hype around certain moments. Less smooth for sure. I think TCB does a good job at colloquially translating phrases in a more modern tone.

From what I understand, majority of the community waits for tcbscans. But the official is the most accurate to the Japanese manga but it is still privy to some mistakes sometimes.

For example in Ch1062 when a certain group of individuals were introduced, TCB explained in detail their names and what it could be referencing. More importantly, if Khan chooses TCB, he will get more spoiler-free time to read comments and whatnot, which will make a huge difference.

I read all three versions, coz sometimes there are nuances that each translator interprets differetnly... for the past 3+ years, tcb has been the popular choice, but i would say if you wanna understand better then you should read all three versions and make a decision yourself...

Official has the most reliable translation, and isn't translated by people who have strong character biases. Fan scans often make mistakes while Viz only rarely has minor issues. The official scan has better quality (not resolution) as they get the digital version directly from Shueisha while fan scans have to scan magazine pages and then clean it up which leads to a loss of quality. As you're already reading official, I would advise sticking to it.

2023-03-29 19:53:59 +0000 UTCNot sure if you're still reading Khan but I honestly feel the safest way you can do things is to read the TCB release on Thursday/Friday, and talk with the community ONLY on the Weekend. If you try to talk on Monday or Tuesday the leaks and spoilers will already be out, and there is always an a**hole who will be trying to spoil things for you in comments or on Twitch. This is a needless risk when there will be mostly no spoilers out on the weekend, and the TCB releases are very good and what most manga readers read. True, it's a 1:1 mirror translation which sometimes makes it feel robotic as some things don't just translate from Japanese to English like that. I'd say Official delivers the actual meaning of what Oda is trying to say better. Although they use more complex sentence structures, I feel like it's closer to the original meaning than even OPScans. As for being westernized, I don't feel that at all. It was the case for previous Official OP manga translators, especially before Volume ~60, but not anymore IMO.

I think you should go with one of the fan translations and read official later when it comes out. OPScans: I'd say OPScans is almost on the level of official in terms of accuracy, but they can lack art quality until the 2nd upload (which happens around TCB release). It's also harder to read, and more robotic than official and TCB. They are a new group, which only started a few months ago, so hopefully they'll improve. TCB: TCB is way easier to read than official, has really good art quality, and is easily the most readable translation since they use easier vocabulary and more simple sentences. It has many minor inaccuracies in every chapter, but It will obviously win the poll because people can't judge accuracy when they only read the English translations. They just pick what they like better. I'd either recommend going TCB, or waiting until OPScans can improve their art quality (usually close to TCB release), then going with that. Both should be around the same time in terms of release date.

Back in the days OPScans tried being ultra fast and had some errors. But nevertheless you should later on read the official translation because also TCB gets many things wrong. But nowadays OPS is by far the fastest and have minimized the errors. I cannot understand the TCB guys, its like living some months in the past. You can always check you info in TCB and Official later on. I read a comment above saying that TCB does Colorpages and that's also not that true. It's included because the artists have time to do it. But it's the artists who publish it on instagram/twitter etc.

Also regarding you trying to read comments in the future, the mods could provide screenshots of the comment section and obviously black out "hints/spoilers". This way you could still read comments without any worries.

If you want to ensure high quality art, no matter how quickly you read, then it has to be either TCB or Official. OPScans only started a few months ago, so they are still improving. You can always go on the link and check the quality.

Plus if you read the official you may be able to at best read comments and interact on patreon for a day before spoilers are out for the next chapter. If you read scan groups you can do that for 3-4 days. TCB is the way to go.

The official conveys what Oda is saying the best, which is the most important thing imo.It doesn't matter how much cooler TCB sounds if the words they are using are not at all what is said in the japanese.

Reading TCB first, and then checking out the official later, you can’t go wrong. Also usually the Greiish color pages are on the TCB scans. But again nothing wrong with Official because that’s the most accurate for translations. Personally would I do is first read the OPScans on Wednesday so I don’t worry about spoilers, then reread both TCB and Official when they come out and compare them all. Most people in the community prefer reading TCB. Again it’s up to you Khan whatever you prefer.

TCB might be better/easier to read - but whats the point with that when some things get lost or changed in translation just bc someone wanted to make it sound better? Sometimes its the little things that make the biggest differences. Seriously - make your own decision after comparing them and with what you feel most comfortable with. Whatever your decision will be - I suggest you don't skip the official one, tho.
