Garp remained in active duty for long after Rogers death, only entering semi-retirement in the last 2 years, Rayleigh went into hiding for a considerable amount of time after Roger died. Same issue with Whitebeard, Whitebeard didn't care for embroiling himself in wars or battle, he could've gone for the One Piece and been Pirate King, but instead he decided to somewhat settle down with a family, not to say he didn't involve himself in conflict at all, but he didn't live actively in it. Garp is not only older than Whitebeard, he's in better shape health wise than Whitebeard and remained consistently in combat for pretty much his entire life. Garp and Rayleigh are not comparable in their old age

Garp feats have showcased he was on par with Roger in the past, has remained consistently active as opposed to Rayleigh who has been in hiding for most of his life post Roger, and was given the opportunity to become an Admiral multiple times in which he refused. He was as strong if not stronger than Sengoku, a man who became a Fleet Admiral, and was part of the duo that took down an entire crew of 3 future yonkos and a man capable of keeping all 3 in check. Unless Garp gets outnumbered or they pull shenanigans, it's GG for Blackbeard, the only major thing Garp has to watch out for is the tremor fruit which he's likely already had experience with multiple times in the past. Story purposes is a completely different matter since obviously the story has to allow Blackbeard to win or escape in some way but if we're talking pure scale, Garp is a fucking monster and he obliterates Blackbeard in 1v1

It nullifies devil fruits but garp is just strong as shit without a df. But again this is going off of the idea that they have the same df. If it's different then this doesn't matter.

Also garps haki has to be top tier sense he was able to scrap with roger and whitebeard in the prime era. if Garp loses it’s gonna be due to endurance not because he lacks strength

But we must take that the Garp is already Old, but on the other side he is healthy, not like WB in Marineford. For the plot obviously BB can't lose, or he can lose but don't be captured by marines to impel down. I don't know man i take my vote for Garp

We dont know how much Garp fell off and we have no real way to talk about his strength. His only feats would be punching Marco and thinking he can kill Akainu. BB has crazy feats, is at his peak, has 2 dfs. I think BB got it

I don’t this will happen now though However, if Law is somehow still around then it’s not really a 1v1 with Blackbeard and thus Garp and Law will win the battle and flee away from Hachinosu. Honestly this all seems to be building up towards a giant battle royale war on Elbaf, where IMO Blackbeard will be victorious against all.

But Blackbeard is a sneaky bitch who fights without honor so yeah - with the help of at least one of his Crewmembers he wins. Now - I don't see a fight where BB would fight fair 1v1 against Garp - Therefore I'd say BB. Plus his main feat being Black Vortex to get a hold of DF users to nullify their powers. No such can do with Garp. He's a pure Haki fighter. Sure he may not be in his prime anymore but I sure as hell think he can still go toe to toe with Blackbeard.
