She chose to learn healing arts but she didn't choose her bankai power cuz you can't choose what ur bankai does. So her bankai is like a blood domain with acid like property to the blood. But her healing art is separate from the bankai which she uses to prolong battles. Her healing is too good cuz she could reattach hiyori that was split in two.

Her shikai's power was the creature that heals with its stomach acid, so her bankai's power must also be acid. She uses it to melt and heal, which is what she also did to Kenpachi (not exactly shown in the anime)

2022-12-13 16:25:25 +0000 UTCThe blood from her Bankai doesn't melt(that was just Kenpachi's mental image of the battle), it heals(just like her Shikai), and she can use it for offensive and defensive techniques. If you rewatch the fight she kills him several times and is constantly healing him and herself once she goes into Bankai. Like she hinted before she activated it, the reason she learned to heal herself was to fight forever, her Bankai is the literal manifestation of that.
