Oda had zero clue what he was doing and probably just winged it. As for the anime for one piece, that's Toei's fault. They prefer to make money over quality. People use the excuse that one piece is pumping out episodes every week, but that's wrong... As long as they make money then they don't care if they ruin the pacing and quality of the animation.

The weekly format works for Toei they just wanna stay there for many years as long as people are watching it . now imo watching One piece is stupid the quality is horrible , you literally get a better experience reading it than watching it . and u can jump in and watch the good episodes with the good animation when they're out , avoid spoilers and use your time to watch good anime . i agree that wano was disappointing ( Oda is getting really bad at writing fights scenarios ) . but i prefer to call it onigashima arc cause the beginning of wano was incredible .

Bleach though... with only 2 episodes, and it's proven to be better than the entire 1000+ episodes of mid piece. The hype is gone and the villains are always subpar on a good day. Us bleach fans are getting a full course meal made by gordon ramsay himself. One piece fans on the other hand... are getting expired leftovers, and if they're lucky... they might just get some mcdonalds in the trash bin. That's luxury for them. The bleach series is true quality shounen and i cannot wait for the next episode. It's good to see khan so hyped up for bleach. This man is loving it so much. You can tell his enjoyment is sort of diminishing for one piece after seeing the return of my boy... ICHI..... GOAT YOO LETS GOOOOO!

Also yes probably most people here are manga readers so we know what is gonna happen with OP but for me it's just a bit annoying when OP can take a simple scene and stretch it into 30 seconds just to make 1 episode = 1 manga chapter. for example the recent scene where the scabbards are running and kiku etc split up with kinnemon and kiku is asked about his arm hurting ... wtf was that. anyway, that's my reasoning. By the way... you asked why bleach always has big recaps at the start of each episode, this is the main reason. It's so they can make the new material more interesting without stretching scenes out

Once every 3-4 episodes there'll be a good episode, but it's too slow and mediocre overall for me to watch it week to week. I just stick the much better manga and watch the stuff that i know/think will be good, or if i hear it was good from other people after the ep has come out.

Plus most of these dudes are manga readers they already know what's going down in one piece. So far ahead they can't really get excited about a weekly ep. Comparing a show that people have been waiting on vs a show that has come out weekly is just kinda random to me. The only people who wouldn't pick bleach are the ones who never watched it or dislike the show.

On the other hand, Bleach episodes are all phenomenal these days, not to mention Khan's legendary reactions. One piece is the closest to my heart, but I have to choose Bleach this time.. I just hope one day Khan will switch to the manga for the real one piece experience.
