Flashback fleshes out Doffy and shows why he changed in childhood but we don't see him change in real/present time during the Dressrosa arc. He is introduced as an evil dude and the arc ends with him being evil. Whereas Byakuya was introduced as a law abiding citizen but by the end you see a change in him saving Rukia, whether it was for someone else or not is not the point. His relationship Rukia is not the topic here. You can question his motive for doing it and no one is expecting his character to be complete in the first arc of the story. So that's what I mean by a character being layered. Not saying all characters need to be developed in real time and I wont mention what characters are like that in Bleach to avoid spoilers but I do agree with Khan that with Byakuya we see more change than we did with a lot of OP villains. I think Crocodile is my favourite because he does change in Marineford to help Luffy which is a drastic development to his character.

Doffy is pure evil but he is not one dimensional by any means. We see that on display when it comes to his relationship with his own crew. He calls them family, a stand-in for his own family he felt constantly disappointed in (despite his twisted logic). Byakuya made a decision, but why did he make it? See, we get the why for Doflamingo, we understand every facet of his character by following his life during the flashback. You just can't get that kind of depth in a 2min flashback with Byakuya. Is he just strict and he likes to uphold the law because that's his personality? He broke it once for his wife, but never again, why? Just because he's a law abiding citizen lol? If he was loyal to Hisana once, he should stay consistent in that logic. By the end of it he has a change of heart and saves Rukia but it's FOR Hisana. I don't think people grasp that part. Even when Byakuya steps in front of Gin's sword to save her, it's not even for Rukia, it's for his promise to Hisana. And how could we, the audience even expect it to be for Rukia. We see virtually 0 interaction between Rukia and Byakuya in the flashback. Their relationship was a big question mark, and it becomes clear he harbors no love for her as a family member even by episode 63. Rukia could hypothetically be anyone if they allow him to keep his promise to Hisana. Rukia is just the necessary catalyst for that promise and that twisted dynamic is something that makes his character feel off and incomplete at this point.

I just got internet back in my area and I just heard that someone mentioned a spoiler so Khan won't be reading comments anymore, that really sucks and it really drains the hype but it's probably a good thing that he won't read comments anymore cause some people just can't help but mention future arc names or character names. I don't think people understand that even if people provide no context to the names, the man wants to go in completely blind, when you mention the name of something that hasn't even happened yet, you're planting an expectation. Anyways, I know the man isn't going to read this but I hope he enjoys the rest of the show regardless. Bleach is still hands down my favorite personally even after watching "the big three" but it's probably because I grew up with it first, so I'm always happy to see him reacting to it. One reason ppl say Bleach did go downhill was because of the fillers, not the main arcs. But then people did go from Bleach fillers suck to Bleach sucks because how just the internet is, which is obviously not true. You did see it with FT firsthand. Most people just follow opinions without realizing it. Every anime has a banger arc and Bleachs issue was it was the first main one. So people couldn't help but compare. If this was a 10, other arcs could be a 7 or an 8 and people would say "Bleach did go downhill".

2022-07-09 06:18:59 +0000 UTCNot sure if you saw my last message in the last video but the next arc is 100% filler it has nothing to do with anything in the manga its not even anime canon where they give you extra information on things, but during the next canon arc they CONTINUOUSLY reference the arc and even bring in FILLER characters to manga moments almost to the point where you feel like you were supposed to watch the last arc it's extremely annoying as I'm rewatching it right now but I just thought I would give you a heads up incase your confused when your watching those episodes, one other thing to take note of is that there are random filler arcs in the middle of the arc like in Naruto, which is also annoying luckily everything is already out, that being said had a nice Eid

ITs an interesting story and a really fun one at that. The name alone give you a hint at what the arcs plot is but its honestly the only one I would say is worth watching.

Like some 12 episode anime have more character development than 100+ episode long shounen. We dont see Doflamingo have inner conflict like Byakuya who had to decide between following soul society law vs family law vs his wife's wishes. Doffy is a bit more 1 dimensional but I like him as well. Also be careful about spoiling one piece lol

2022-07-09 01:06:44 +0000 UTCI love Khan to bits but he is very literally living in the moment when he says Byakuya is more fleshed out than Doflamingo. We get 2 min flashbacks of these characters in Bleach, we still barely know anything about them, it's just the tip of the iceberg, they're not fleshed out at all. Doflamingo is one of the most complex, fleshed out villains in anime period. We pretty much got his entire life flashback explaining why he is the way he is from his celestial dragon lineage to the dynamic with his family and the direct contrast between him and his brother despite growing up together in the same circumstances. It then ties in seamlessly into Law and his story. I think Byakuya is badass and a cool character, but to say he's more fleshed out is objectively wrong. You can prefer Byakuya, sure, you can prefer his 2 minute backstory, sure, but they're in two different universes in terms of development. The problem comes with him saying his character is "deeper" or "more fleshed out" when later he talks about how he can connect and relate to them (which are two totally different things). I think this is what Khan is trying to say. He likes the villains in Naruto because you can understand them like you can understand Byakuya here. He likes villains that aren't one-dimensional pure evil; and have potential to repent and regret. One Piece could definitely do with more villains of this nature while Naruto could've done with less imo. But this archetype of villain isn't inherently more deep, it all comes down to how they are written at the end of the day.

Khan is a big One Piece fan but is honest when he thinks when another anime does something better like with the case of Byakuya and villains being more fleshed out. This reminds me of when you decided to watch One Piece cuz of Naruto fillers and you realised you were missing out. Same with Bleach you finally gave it a chance and realised you missed out all these years. Moral of the story is dont turn a blind eye to something just cuz other people say so a lot of shounen fans are fanboys that always try to hate on other series. Now you see why Bleach was part of the big 3

Like in this case you didn't want aizen to lose because he was such a badass character even though the things he did were evil and he deserves to pay you can't help but admire his character
