2025-05-09 16:33:33 +0000 UTCHey man I know you watched this movie a long time ago and probably do not remember that much of it, but to give some insight, when Shoko tells him she loves him she uses the word "Daisuki", which isn't the full power "I love you" but still means it. But the point is, the moon is said "Tsuki" as others pointed out. The protagonist understands that and thinks she was talking about how the moon was visible in the sky, then says "yeah, the moon is beautiful isn't it?". This can be used as a way to fill out a conversation but "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" is actually an indirect and poetic way used to say "I love you". So not only did he not understand Shoko's confession, they made him reply with the clichรฉ line to twist it in her heart.
