The Deep Calf Release

Hey, Friends! Here is this week's tidbit. 

We talked a couple weeks ago about how the fascial lines intersect and how releasing one part of them can affect change in the entire system. The calves are notorious for bringing observable positive changes to back and neck pain via the back line of fascia—crazy, right?! The problem with just stretching the calves is, when they’re holding excessive tension the stretch only goes so far. The problem with just rolling them on the roller is, the pressure is broad and basic, and leaves the deeper layers of tension in tact.

If you want to give your calves the release they really need, do a deeper dig with a tennis ball. Definitely most effective when they’re already warm, like after a workout, a stretch or broad roller session. You'll need a tennis ball or pinky ball for this!
