Chapter  24 - Making Preparations for the Newcomers

A maid let me into the room assigned to me for the night, then left me by myself.

I then felt a sense of guilt creep in my mind: out of the desire of being called “big brother”, I ended up saying something kind of insincere to Zizi and Pipi.

…aah, I need some fluff time with Sil right now…

Misha, Zizi and Pipi were going to sleep in the same room. I tried taking Sil with myself, but Pipi looked like she was going to cry, so I couldn’t take him away from her.

I lied on the bed, feeling a bit lonely, when someone knocked at the door.

“Come in.”

The door opened, and Misha, Zizi and Pipi came inside.

“Thank you very much for everything today, Sir Tenma. I am going to do everything I can in order to prove useful to you, so please take care of me and my little sister.”

Zizi made a formal greeting, with a speech and manners that made it hard to believe she was just thirteen years old. Pipi too bowed her head, after her sister.

“No need to be so formal. As I said, you can think of us as family from now on.”

After I spoke, Zizi lightly pushed Pipi’s back, who stepped forward and bowed energetically.

“B-Big brother Tenma, p-please take care of ush!!”

Yes!! Yes!! Here it is, my long-awaited bunny girl “big brother”! And she even added a mispronounced word!! Aah, I’m going to die of cuteness! But before I do, I really must take good care of these two!!

While I was reaffirming my resolve, I noticed Misha looking at me with a kind of cold glare.

“Tenma, you’re creepy!!”

G-Give me a break now! I know that I’m emanating glee from every pore right now, no need to point it out!!

I tried patting Pipi’s head, but she ran away and hid behind Zizi’s back.

Why, little one, why!?

I compensated by grabbing Sil and hopping with him on the bed, then started to refill my fluff meter.

“Just forget him when he’s like that.”

I could hear Misha say something, but ignored her and continued fluffing Sil.

After I was satisfied enough, I regained my composure.

However, Sil was looking exhausted, Misha was glaring, and Zizi and Pipi looked confused, at best.

I cleared my throat.

“I’m pretty tired, so I’m going to turn in early today. Zizi, can you tell everyone that until tomorrow morning my room is off limits to anyone?”

“Y-Yes Sir. I’ll inform Lady Dorothea immediately.”

“Okay then, good night.”

I let everyone out, then put up a magic barrier around the room: no physical object, magic or sound could now penetrate it. After that, I opened my Room and entered it.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

I was often alone in my past life, so I wanted to treasure this precious “me” time.

Okay, let’s make some clothes for Zizi, and try to calm down a bit…

I went into the production workshop and started thinking of ideas for Zizi’s clothes.

First of all, she needed something she could wear every day and was easy to move in, so she could train in it. I didn’t intend to make her participate in battle, but in order to improve her base stats there was a minimum training to complete.

As for Pipi…it’d be nice if she had something matching her sister.

I could make her some short pants, with a hole for her round rabbit tail to pop out of.

For Zizi, I could use Horn Rabbit materials to attach a tail like Pipi’s to her shorts. Having a tail is cuter than having none, after all…

With her legs bare there was the risk she got hurt, so I could make some skin-colored stockings too.

Thinking that a low crop shirt would match shorts well, I tried making one…then realized that I had not yet seen clothes that revealed the wearer’s bellybutton in this world. I should make a long sleeve shirt too: if she wore it over the top, it would probably be fine.

I also made several pairs of comfortable, sport-type underwear for Zizi and cute types that girls liked for Pipi. I also made them swimsuits for the bath, like I did for Misha, fluffy and loose-fitting roomwear, and several pairs of matching shoes.

I might as well make some more maid outfits, altering the design a bit for each one.

I guess that was enough for their matching outfits.

Next, Zizi’s alchemist crafting outfit. I whipped up a body-fitting overalls-type outfit and an apron with cute frills, for cooking.

After I was done with the tailoring, I moved to the smithy.

I was thinking of making them the same bracelet I had given to Misha, but no good ideas would come to mind. I tried making a dozen simple ones…but I couldn’t shake the feeling that if I had to give them an accessory as a present, it was definitely better not to make it as a bracelet.

As I was mulling over this issue, I felt — through Presence Detection — that Dorothea was in front of the door of my room, with Misha in tow. I was going to go to see them, but right that instant —something flashed in my head.

I molded a piece of Mithril in a round sphere, about the size of a gold coin. I then carved in it a rabbit with a folded ear, and attached a light blue and yellow gem to it, the same color of Pipi’s eyes. I then tied the resulting object to a piece of high grade monster leather, and fashioned it into a choker: that was going to be Pipi’s gift.

For Zizi’s choker, I carved a Mithril rabbit with both ears standing up, then used light blue gems for the eyes — the same as Zizi, of course.

Finally, I attached both chokers with the usual enchantments: Storage, Self Repair, Mental Message, etcetera.

After making some cooking utensils for Zizi, I was pretty much done with the workshop.

I moved to the living room and made myself a cup of tea.

While taking a break, I imagined Zizi and Pipi wearing the clothes I had made.

Hmm, yes, wonderful…! Though…I feel like something’s missing…?

Pipi’s outfits were perfect, but Zizi seemed to be lacking something…

Zizi’s smart, she was surely going to grow up to be an intellectual…which meant…!

I rushed back into the workshop and made a pair of black frame glasses. Lastly, I attached them with the Analyze enchantment.

Nothing says intellectual like a pair of glasses! It’s common sense!

For her alchemy training, she will need Appraisal or Analyze, in order to know in detail the materials and parts she will use. Glasses will also be useful to protect her eyes: that was a pretty good idea, if I said so myself.

It was definitely not motivated by my preference for girls with glasses…not at all…

I went back to the living room and continued sipping on my tea, while imagining how Zizi will look wearing glasses.

N-Not bad…but there was still something missing…! But I couldn’t tell what it was…!

I placed her next to Pipi, in my mind, and compared the two. I checked all the clothes and accessories I made for them, from the shoes up, and there was no difference…until the very top! Their ears, of course!

I downed the remaining tea, then flew back into the workshop, where I made a bunny ears headband. One with both ears pointing up, one with one ear folded halfway…I wanted to make all sorts!!

After a while, I finally managed to make bunny headbands of decent quality.

I wanted to strive for perfection, however. I tried to see if I could make the ears move somehow.

I checked everything I had in my Item Box, pouring magic power in monster parts, until I found materials that stretched when I poured magic in them.

I thought that using them might make it possible to craft ears that moved according to the wearer’s emotions.

No matter how many times I tried crafting and experimenting with them, however, nothing seemed to work. If someone saw me wearing bunny ears on my head and mumbling to myself, they would surely think I was going crazy…

I thus fully focused on my crafting, and completely forgot about Dorothea and Misha waiting in front of my door…
