When going against a dangerous counter puncher its important to not open big windows, that's why that shoveling uppercut was used so much. For Canelo it's his quick hip movement and head movement. Canelo is able to move behind his movement because he has the threat of his big counter punches behind them. Whenever Canelo dips to the right you can expect a big right hook behind it or if he dips to left you can predict that left to the liver coming behind it. Last but most importantly is how each fighter navigates the ring. Gennadiy constantly turns Canelo to his right so he can move out to his left to avoid the liver shot and avoid the ropes. Canelo uses his feints and a light lead leg to pressure behind his feints as he gives G a different look and angles to think about.
