So I performed what is rapidly becoming the show TWIST twice more in the lovely beach and coal town of Newcastle. The audience were lovely, I was less clunky on the second night than the first, and I felt like I can finally see the outlines of themes and through lines through the mist, and hear the drumbeat of its rhythm in the distance, coming slowly closer.
I need to do one of three things to really make the show cohere. Either, get a less clingy toddler at the shop (or outwait this phase of absolute 24/7 loving limpet). Second option, grow more fortitude about closing the door to do my work even when it’s only the work of thinking about jokes. Third option, accept that this show will be worked out mainly on stage, or in the writers workshops.
Speaking of which, here’s the link for today. The first hour will be writers meeting (all writing quietly together in a room with a bit of chat here and there), and the second hour will be the workshop (breaking down what you’ve been working on and discussing it if you like).
