On the train again: Checklists
Added 2022-08-01 11:40:21 +0000 UTCI’m on the train en route to Edinburgh, with the anticipation of (I assume) a gladiator entering the ring after a year (or two) of sharpening their weapons.
I’ve bought a couple of HEPA filters for my room in the Gilded Balloon, in the hope that’ll make things a little safer and more comfortable for my audience. It reminds me of my first edinburgh where I was in a room with a curtain for a door and no windows or airflow, buying fans and bottles of water for my audience. I like people to be relaxed in my shows - or for any discomfort to arise as a result of the comedy rather than for example feeling like you were going to faint.
That said, it’s always hotter on stage than it is in the audience, so sometimes you’re on stage trying to acknowledge the intolerable heat and you just look like someone with a guilty secret. Is it hot in here or are you just happy to be sitting there watching the show, amiright?
This week’s salon will be FRIDAY, because I open on Wednesday, and much fun though it would be to cram that day full of obligations (Gargle recording in the morning), I think I’ll be a little kind on myself this time round.
