Pre-baby limbo stretches on, and I'm regretting putting all my work aside, because it turns out (at least from what this one midwife lady said) 4 out of 5 first babies come late, and to me that means actually, this isn't a late baby, you just told me the wrong date. Anyway, being this pregnant suddenly illuminates the Chivalric tradition to me, because yes please, carry my not very heavy bag and open that door, I'm extremely unwieldy right now, all my joints are sliding around, I have no core stability, and I keep overestimating how close I can pass by anything. As Antonia Fraser (no relation) said in The Weaker Vessel, many women in history (she's talking specifically about the c17th, but I figure it's extendable) would have experienced a lot of their lives in 'virtually perpetual pregnancy', so all of a sudden a few of those showy benevolent sexisms seem less wildly irrational.
Anyway, I've started a few little self-pleasing writing bits that have been being pushed off forever in favour of deadlines, so that's a fun way to spend limbo time.
