Double Open Salon Tomorrow!

Hallo!

This is an old gun emplacement overlooking the mouth of Sydney Harbour, near where I live. The decrepit architecture of war overlooking natural beauty is one of those things I find emotionally moving, even if I find it hard to put a finger on what emotion exactly is evoked. Melancholy? Nostalgia? Admiration? Disgust? Gratitude? Something in the Venn diagram overlap of those feelings.

We now have a Forum, so you can chat among yourselves about things that come up in the salons, or your projects or topics from the podcasts, Bugleverse or Tea With Alice or the Audible documentaries. The relevant link is here:

There’s plenty of lovely books and universes that seem to have wildly toxic fanbases, but I’m assuming that keeping this among the Patreonites to begin ought to give us a good head start on a respectful culture.

If not, and things start to get snippy and mean, we’ll either shut it all down or lean in and just migrate to one of those too-right-wing-for-moderation alt social media sites and make it compulsory that all posts must recommend fringe medical treatments sold out of the back of a van.

Update Tomorrow, Double Salon

I’m doing a big life update tomorrow - to let you know what I’ll be doing for the rest of the year, and I figure to try to make it as accessible as possible - so I’ll do two Special Salons; open to all patreons of all levels.

Rotating through timezones weekly has been good for accessibility, so I’ll do one tomorrow evening Sydney time, and one the next morning.

For those of you who haven’t come to Salons before, the protocol is fairly straightforward:

Here are the details, passcodes to come through to all levels tomorrow. I should be covering the same stuff in both, at least until we get sidetracked into more interesting stuff. I have bullet points and everything (well, today’s To Do list says ‘make bullet points for Life Update Patreon Salon’, so that’s almost the same thing)

As ever, if you like any of my work (in general, you know? As in probably not this, as this is just an administrative post), do share it around. It makes a big difference. Also, industry people do pay attention to numbers of views and followers and 5 star ratings and so on, so to those of you who make the effort to drop any of those things around the place, I am grateful.

Comments

I will definitely write it up as a general post afterwards; just trying to catch as many people as possible.

Hi Alice. Salons are not for me. Not only do I find the idea uncomfortable, but my schedule does not generally allow. I find social media interactions anxiety inducing, but with Patreon I am happy to just observe. If there is major news I hope you will post to read later. Thanks for all you do x

Honestly, I think I've got it figured out. All it took was a half a glass of water. Thank you so much for responding! I only have telephone internet for a short while but I'm looking forward to joining in in the future! Stay safe! The virus is getting worse here and people are afraid of the shots. Sad!☮️❤️😷💉🌍🚰

Thanks for all your support! Is it the timezones that are confusing? Can I help?

It's very confusing for me but I am older and I live in a very rural part of Hawaii Island. I'm happy to give what I can. I enjoy the Gargle very much. I was a fan of the Last Post. Onward and upward my dear!
