Beetles, Writing Session, Tea With Alice Salon 32

Look at this remarkably shiny beetle! There’s a tree near my house that’s absolutely coated in them, and when I go for my walk, I see people walk past it on the footpath. Many of them are so close they brush the leaves. These shiny beetles cling calmly on. None of the people seem to notice the beetle-tree.

Who has shared / is sharing a house during lockdown? With family or friends or aquaintance style housemates? It’s such an interesting and difficult balance of moving around in a self-contained bubble, so as not to chafe one another, and making an effort to appreciate one another for their unique and surprising qualities.

Salon this week is 8pm tomorrow Sydney time:

The link is here, and I’ll send through the passcode to the relevant levels an hour or so before. Next week will be U.K. time, and it’ll be about 9pm in that zone:

Topic: Tea With Alice Salon 32

I’ll also be doing two Writing Rooms this week, one on Thursday morning (U.K. weds evening) and one on Friday afternoon (US Thursday Evening) Sydney time. Let me know via DM if you’d like to join in on that and I’ll send you the link. It’s very low key - just basically chilling out in the ‘same’ space, maybe a few randomly generated prompts for people who are at a loose end. I’ll take the first five for each - I’d like it to stay small so it stays human and doesn’t become a gig/performance. When lockdown ends, I’ll do them in real life too.

A Harlequin Bug! Love them, we get them round my place too.

Marvellous colours. I think I’d better not take part in any salons for a while yet, just in case anyone mentions Neil Gaiman…

What a beautiful beetle, I don’t think we can match that in the UK. Plus I was trying to identify the bees nesting in our garden the other day and discovered that you have BLUE bees in Australia? What a country! 🙂

we are playing schools this week. Fortunately we have enough space to spread out so not a real issue of getting under each other's feet.
