My computer is updated!

I have conquered! I can finally use my computer like I could use my computer before I tried to fix my computer!

(Except for Microsoft Word, alas, lost to me. He was a good companion. I knew him all my life, but he will be honoured with a plaque that I will format in another application because fine it’s a subscription service now, but when it won’t recognise its master or accept the coin I repeatedly tried to press into its open hands we must admit it has betrayed us and cast it into the outer darkness).

Anyway, today I’m writing News Quiz and Last Post jokes, and I don’t have to write them on my phone and email them to myself any more, which is wonderful. I’m also recording the intro to my Teacast episode this week, which is with Laura Davis, and is a lovely one!

Thankyou for all the moral support during my epic quest to perform a simple task!

My computer is updated!

So, with Andy now full time on the news quiz, will the Bugle mothership get abandoned?

I think that's a swimming pool. I guess you can install word by chucking the cd in.

Oh yes, my other half's macbook air has pages. I think I've spent a couple of minutes looking it over.

You can (did) do it!!!

Ben Ward

Thank you! I’m loving writing with him on it. He’s so prolific, and yet so open to my jokes too. It’s a dream gig

Pages and Notes and TXT editor. Will see what settles in as the default

Being the idiotically silly person that I am, I'm dying to know what you are using to write now that Microsoft Word has gone the way of "you want me to pay how much every month?" I gave up MS Office quite a few years ago. I've grown quite fond of LibreOffice when I need to write something I'm too paranoid to trust to the likes of Google Docs.

Keith D. Jones

RIP MS office. It used to be a useful tool. (I still have a PowerBook clinging to life that I can access it on. And for excel, too, love them macros!)

Meagan

Or stutter and say New New Zealand?

Meagan

Cast thee the accursed Clippy the Paper Clip into the searing lava river of More-Dour! Glad to hear that the computer has revived and now serves at your side... Also... what a pleasant view in a pleasant light. The slippers by the door just adds that bit of human touch to the scene... like... a half of glass of water... as it relieves but does not overwhelm a half parched throat on a pleasant summer's day... 8) yes... oh my... to hear Andy half giggle his way through a half a glass of water line on News Quiz would be delightful!

Tony Liang

Haha, I agree!! I feel that way ever time of the half of glasses catches me off guard, hehe, it's an absolute treat :)

Do we consider this the epilogue before the real adventures begin?? :D

Slip a few Last Post ones into the News Quiz pile, I want to hear Andy ask a question about New New Zealand or half a glass of water. Oh, and Alison's squeal of glee at your half a glass punchline today was a thing of pure joy!

And Lo, All Was Right In The End. (In the way so beloved of epic fantasy and soap opera.) (And, of course, congratulations on overcoming all obstacles on the road, commiserations on losing the apparently loyal companion who proved faithless after all, and I hope you quaffed a flagon of mead - or blue dragon tea, or something - to celebrate the return to Home.)

Tim Parsons

I've really been enjoying the latest series of the news quiz. I think Andy Z is doing a brilliant job of hosting. And whenever they read your name out at the end I feel all sort of proud like "I know her!". I mean I don't really, but I sort of do if that makes sense. Anyway, good work, and I am glad your IT issues are sorted xx
