New Tea With Alice: Maddie King

This week’s episode of Tea With Alice is with the very lovely @mxddieking, who is a 19 year old ex-dancer, gymnast and business student. She’s just finished off her chemotherapy and is facing the impact of how much the world she is emerging into is different from the world she was looking forward to rejoining.

We talked about priorities, perspective and our fundamentally different-world feelings about building your own business, her from the perspective of a business student, and me from the perspective of the sometimes very convoluted relationship that the arts have with commerce.

I really enjoyed having this conversation with Maddie, who is such a bright and engaged thinker, and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Remember, I’m doing a daily Instagram livestream instead of my comedy shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. They’re different every night, including guests, songs shows, readings from CHRONOS, answering questions and all that jazz. That’s up for 24 hours after each show on @aliterative

These will culminate in a live watching party either on Instagram, zoom, twitch or YouTube live of the release of Savage on 17 April. I’m currently organising the logistics of having a special guest with whom to do a pre or post chat. Stay tuned here and on my feeds.

Nice

I listened to Tea with Alice for the first time and more or less expected something along the lines of last post an bugle, which I love for their intelligent chaotic silliness. But what a surprise that was an amazing, interesting, intelligent, deep and inspiring conversation. Thanks for that to both of you.

Well done Maddie! :-D So glad to put a face - with a big, beaming smile - to the voice in this week's beautiful podcast. Take care, Alice, and all the best in these kRaZy times~
