I am so pleased a bunch of people have jumped onto this platform, presumably to grab the download of ETHOS. I’ve been spending my time post festival mainly indulging in family, loved ones, and putting my computer down for a moment. The picture above is me in the gym in Perth, literally the day before I had my first few days off after months of no days off work.
I love my work and it can feel very nourishing, fun, interesting, engaging, internally motivated which means it’s very possible to forget that it is actually taking something out of you. You’re speeding along forgetting to check your petrol and then after a while you think, it’s probably time for a break.
Oddly, that’s always the time you get sick with a vengeance, which is funny after months of traveling non-stop and bustling around feeling fine but overdrawing your health account. I have had the best of intentions, to do heaps of things in my break (I spend most of my time frustrated that I’m not doing more *stuff*) but it’s ended up being the first proper holiday I have had since I was a student.
I don’t know if it’s refreshed me or if all the bits of my brain engine I keep going with a fuel of urgency and passionate conviction and anxiety about letting people down will have clanked apart like a steam-punk robot in an unmapped swamp that will require someone with goggles and a leather helmet to oil the squeaky hinges.
The fact that I’m writing a thing, even this, is probably a good sign that the robot brain can be salvaged from the mineral rich deposits of the unmapped swamp.
If you have any questions, drop them below, I’ll do some answering either on the podcast, in a video or in writing in the next week.
Stay tuned for more episodes in this adventure, Escape From Planet Holiday Swamp
