So I’ve flown in to Perth from Sydney and opened my (very short) run of MYTHOS here. The two hour jetlag is a real thing, mainly in the form of misjudging mealtimes.
You think, cool, I’ll meet people for breakfast at 10.30, forgetting that actually that’s already lunchtime in your heart.
The upside is when you realise you missed dinner and are starving at what feels like midnight, food places are still open and victory is umami.
Because I’d had an early breakfast and missed lunch entirely, I was so hungry last night by the time I got food at 10.30pm perth time, I burned the top of my mouth on some agedashi tofu.
This morning my mouth top is full of loose skin and regrets. That’s a disgusting image, but I liked “loose skin and regrets” as a turn of phrase so, I’m sorry but not enough to change it. Like, I think it would make me feel squeamish if someone else wrote it, but I’m very satisfied with it on this end.
Perth MYTHOS tickets are selling moderately well, there are only two more nights to come, and Sydney MYTHOS is next week 16-19 May. Do come if you can. That’ll be it for this Australia tour, as I fly out right after.
