When Nate shows his true colors it’s most gross imo bc he puts out Maddie as well Maybe he thought he wasn’t but he 100 percent offered the house, ‘the life’ conditionally That daycare line, he always saw it as a manipulation to show care for Maddie and as shitty and half in as both Alex’s options were He’s the more insidious harm because he looks like a shortcut Their dynamic boils down to control ‘As long as you act right, your daughter is safe’ I think Alex recognized it bc it probably felt like Sean’s control but she couldn’t put her finger on it because the bait was a handsome rich guy

the comments in this thread are so healing to me, I watched another reaction to this show a while back, and every single men there and their comments all swore up and down that she messed a good thing up with Nate and that he's the goat, etc. Even said she deserves what she gets :( Made me so sick I had to stop watching!

Yeees thank u!!! like obviously there are worse people in the show but he is lowkey giving nice guy...she made it so clear she is not interested yet he felt entitled somehow. In general it's just so weird that he would not see the insane power imbalance that would always be between them if they started something during this phase of her life. I always thought he essentially tried to "buy" her through acts of kindness, and the reason he got involved in the first place was to use the power imbalance to get what he wants

The next episode is HIGHLY triggering I know Rob is going to hate it. 😩

Nate is disappointing because he acted like he was helping her to be kind when in reality he wanted something from her, he wanted her. He was manipulative asf but really subtly

Sean is a piece of shit but Nate being an asshole too disappointed me :( He kept asking her out even when she was rejecting him, then was giving her things including a place to stay and Alex said multiple times that she doesn't want anything from him if there are conditions attached to it, he promised there wasn't but his true colors showed this episode, imo he wanted to take advantage of a woman in an extremely vulnerable state, he didn't truly care about her. I feel horrible that Alex is back to square one :(( It's realistic, but just terrible. I cant wait for your reactions to the rest of the season!

Unpopular opinion: Nate’s behaviour was nefarious from the beginning. He pressured Alex into accepting a ride in the ferry episode despite polite refusals, assured her there were no strings attached when Alex outlined her boundaries and reluctance to accept his help/the car and in the end he proved there *were* strings attached by asking her to move out. Sean is indeed violent, abusive and the worst character imo but Nate just *seems* like a good guy when compared to Sean’s standards…which are so low they’re in a magma-chamber. I think him insisting she keep the car was to *appear*, as you guys put it, noble. Not because he actually cares about her, Maddy or their situation. I mean, he kicked them out from under his roof after all.
