I don't think she had any fantasy of the guy. I don't even think it's about the guy. She hates her life so much and the only reason she's trying at all is for her daughter, so she pretends to be someone else to escape herself. Not the healthiest thing, but better than what Sean does to escape. Not to be political, but I think this show should be mandatory viewing for people who want to cut food stamps and stop funding social services/nonprofits like the DV shelter (happening right now in the US). You can't always "pull yourself up by your bootstraps"- and even the services she COULD access were incredibly challenging to access- but they saved her life. And likely the life of her child.

I have an idea for a show I would really love for you or anybody reading this to take a moment to consider: Somebody Somewhere.
On HBO, highly under the radar, so unfortunately it would be a gamble for you guys in terms of the YT algorithm. I hadn't even heard of it till the most recent Emmy awards when it took home best supporting actor. But was mildly curious, checked it out, and could. not. stop. Just one of the most real, genuine, hilarious, well acted, well written, and heartfelt shows I've seen in a long time. Just very simple slice of life, all about new friendships in adulthood, dealing with family dynamics, and really how friends at any life stage can be the family you choose as well. And the episodes are short, so it's incredibly easy to blaze through. Only took me a couple days.
As someone who has always been an enthusiastic supporter of you watching shows like New Girl, Ted Lasso, The Good Place, Derry Girls, (hopefully Schitt's Creek someday), I truly think Somebody Somewhere would be right up your alley. Hope you'll at least think about it :)
