Edinblog day 6&7

I took them off last night after my show and swapped for flats so I could run over and do the improvised professoring at the Night at The Museum show and then I went back to the Gilded Balloon Artist bar to chat with Tiff Stevenson and at some point I no longer had boots.
Didn't realise until I started dressing for my show tonight, so had to wear my less good boots. Much comfort but heaps less glamorous and fancy boots. The show was wonderful fun though with a lovely laughy, giggly audience and my old Uni pal Scott was there with his boyfriend (they're staying in my room for a few nights, having flown over from Germany to get some fringe into them) and it was nice to feel the show being smooth and fun. A good balancer after Monday night, which was a bit rough and out of order. Wasn't happy with Monday night at all, I had a fancy BBC person in, and just felt out of the rhythm of my own face and words.
Still, I think I'd rather please my old friends than fancy BBC types, on some level, even if my career is more likely to be ruined by the latter. The others have to look you in the eye more.
Rushed over from my show tonight to get to Set List (which starts at 10.30, but is just across the hall) only to find out something had been lost between my management and their MC, and they'd panicked when I wasn't there for call time (being mid-my-own-show) and put someone else on the bill. Very jolty feeling that - like charging forward on a short rope. Will do another night, as it was just a missing link in the info-chain. Walked home in my comfy unglamorous boots and am now in a blanket taco on the floor of my room, with Scott and Bolli asleep on the bed. Feels weirdly comforting.
