I Thought You Should Know.

Remember when you first started contributing to this Patreon, and then you probably wondered, hmm, medical expenses. Aside from making weird artwork of characters from children's programming, I'm actually a sick person.

A year ago I underwent surgery, because I have a chronic infection in my pelvic bone that threatens my well-being. I was given options at the time: Stick to meds, get surgery to get meds implanted, or remove the infected bone. The surgery stalled things, but the infection soon carried on.

Back in March I was hospitalised again. And again the options were presented, and I kinda made a decision. This decision will drastically change my entire being.

I'm now about to face a big challenge. I'm getting the infected bone surgically removed, and with it, my right leg, over a major surgery slated in September that will take a day and a team of surgeons.

I might bleed out, and die. I might succumb to the pain, and die. But I may also be free of this infection I've been having for close to a decade now and live a life free from hospitalisation.

I've reached a point where I no longer have a choice, as the infection is resistant to most antibiotics, and I'm keeping the best, most expensive ones for when I truly need them.

(Let this be a message to all of you. Do not abuse antibiotics. It is one of the biggest problems the world is facing and when there is nothing left to kill resistant bacteria, you're done.)

I have reasons to live. Many, many reasons. And it is why I hope to pull through with this. I have hospitalisation insurance, so that covers the treatment for the most part. Finances aren't the biggest concern when mortality comes to play.

That said, the threat is real, but I'm in good hands.

It's just something I thought you guys should know.
