Day 17 and 18 Edinblog: Double Ups

Hallo punks!

Okay, I know, this is the second double-up day. It's been incredibly hectic, but I will try to keep it daily from now on!

Bad news from home remains steady, but not worse, and that's okay actually. I mean, obviously it's bad, but it's also a salutary reminder that there's life outside Edinburgh, and all of the hype of the thing.

What you've missed in the meantime is a bit of running around, a bunch of socialising, a solid chunk of self-doubt, some moments of bliss and some running on a treadmill for this excellent circus show. I managed to sneakily film a bit of myself You can get the sort of idea of it in a secret super private video link if you hit me up on twitter. (I had it up as part of this blog post, but then the excellent Hardeep Singh Kohli shared the link, and I figured people  might click through who have no idea who I am. Last thing I want is some internet rage at this stage of the fringe. That said, if you're actually interested, let me know and I'll send you the link.

Launched Savage for the last week of the fringe. It was a bit rusty, but will be 100% coalesced by tomorrow, I am pretty confident. It's always the first day in a new room that does me in. I think I learn the show into a space, as it were. I build landmarks into my performances, and without them I find myself a little adrift in my own shows. I need to learn that and build it into my runs.

Or you guys can learn it and just never come on any opening night. Wink.

I also did hosting and guesting on the excellent Stand Up and Slam, which was heaps of fun. Poetry vs Comedy is a good nexus, though I feel like the show slightly privileges poets. Which I don't mind, actually! Poetry needs a boost.

I did some reading of my own poems at the Poetry Can F*ck Off show, which made me nervous and happy in equal measure. I feel a LOT more defensive and nervous reading my own poems than I do performing my comedy for reasons which I could probably lay out but won't .

New Podcast out tomorrow! Just you wait!

Chiz!

"Or you guys can learn it ..." Well heck Alice, where's the fun in that? I get to see how a show evolves AND I get to support an artist who's performances I like, twice. :-)
