Day 14 Edinblog: Squintwards

My blog-days are getting a bit loose, in that I'm writing about yesterday now, rather than having come home and written it up in good time. So to clarify, I'm talking about Tuesday 16th August.

This is because I ended up doing work for Australian daytime in the wee hours of the morning (Sydney Midday to 6pm, which is a very reasonable time if you're in Sydney but is 3-9am if you are in Scotland. Which I am.)

So I woke up (too early) feeling the kind of shaky awake that happens after a big night of dancing but without any of the fun of dancing.

Then I dropped down by The Liquid Rooms to bat for Australia at The Ashes. Then I went to meet Lee Hammerman and go to watch Adam Hess, who makes me laugh so hard I want to give up comedy forever or be a million times better than I am.

I do neither of those things. Instead, I write an article, respond to a questionnaire and then meet up with my friend Hannah to talk about writing music and comedy and then I go to The Gilded Balloon to prepare some of my publicity for Savage (which starts next week at 12.30 at The City Cafe), and do The Resistance

It was a weird show, in that almost half the audience were industry people. After the massive high of yesterday, the show felt like hard work, and there were a significant chunk of people who were laughing in the weird quiet, arrhythmic way that agents and reviewers and judges laugh. Not their fault, but it's an odd audience to perform to.

Then I went off and did important fingerguns with fancy people (bought horrible chips with them and talked about other people's shows) and then I went home feeling a bit like someone had peeled my face off and stapled it back on slightly askew.

Then I forgot to write my blog and went to sleep, and now we're here!

Til tomorrow (tonight) punks!

Comments

These are such contrasting days aren't they. I really admire how you pack it all in. It sounds like agents and judges and industry types are about as fun as a group of health beuracrats at a team building day.
