Hallo Punks! Today was a day of lots of different directions. I woke up and went to have breakfast with an Agent, talking about the landscape of comedy here. Then I went to the City Cafe, and had a cup of tea with
and
, whose parents were in town. It's always nice to talk to parents at the fringe.
Then I bumped into the excellent Michelle Brasier and the excellent (birthday boy) Shannon Whitelock to wish him a happy ageing inevitably towards death day. The lovely Mum's cafe brought out a birthday treat.
Then I bolted again to have a chat with some people in Australia about a gig I will be doing in Sydney in September, before heading home to do laundry (GLAMOUR), edit this week's podcast ( with returning Teacaster, Larry Dean!) and begin my SBS Comedy Article for the week.
I ended up having a cup of tea with my housemates (who I think may well think I'm a ghost), and then went off to do The Resistance. It was a lovely group of people, but quite heavy lifting. Can't be sure whether that vibe was just a quiet, slightly hot, tired group of people or if it was that I'd spent the day with my mind on other things, but getting the show out to a high standard felt a bit like late at night when you're walking up a hill that's suddenly somehow steeper than you remember it being.
Then I went to watch the Daniel Kitson play, 'Mouse' which was an hour and forty minutes of thinky arty comedy excellence.
Then I swung by the Gilded Balloon Artists bar for the Louis C.K. afterparty. It was rammed, so I just said hallo in passing to a few people and then went home to write my SBS Comedy Article about Human Rights abuses. COMEDY! Satirical funtimes at 2am? That's the name of the game.
Then I fell asleep before I finished writing this blog. So I'm posting it now.
You're welcome!
Chiz!
