MICF 2016 Breakdown. 0 nervous breakdowns; 24 Shows performed; 16 other people's shows watched; 1x Max Watts Festival Club spot. $180 worth of snacks for my audiences including; 19 x 1kg bags of organic carrots; 14 brown rice avocado hand-rolls from Yoyogi (for me). 18 x delightful audiences, 5 x quiet but pleasant theatrical style audiences, 1 x confused and off-tempo audience with the chatty front row who made me miserable which included the guy who weirdly walked out twice, my own failure to deal with that and some festival people who got to watch the whole train-wreck; 5 stars from the herald sun; 0 award nominations; 22 full houses. not enough hours of sleep; 16 x plans to go to the gym; 8 x actually going to the gym; 4 visits to the Art Gallery; 1 x Pavlova with Adam Richard; 2 x Karaoke nights with Luke Heggie; ~ 17L of green tea; ~ insufficient nutrition and water. From there it gets a less measurable. Though I'm happy enough to guess at numbers if you have any suggestions or requests. Lessons? Next time see more other people's shows. I'm actually pleased with the level of self care, though it did mean some early nights and less being cool and sociable than I probably 'should'. I think a solution might be to push for more guest spots in lineup shows like set list - I'm better at being social if engaged in a tangible thing, otherwise I get shy to ask people to hang out. Next up, Sydney and then NZ. Anyone got a spare room in Auckland or Wellington at the beginning of next month? Chiz!

It's actually probably about a third again of that much, but I thought it might scare people

I'm also intrigued that your two next-time things are "see more shows" and "keep being good at self-care". For me as a pretty intense festival-goer, I am pretty careful about not going out to see shows just because I feel like I should, because That is Not a Reason. I go to see shows because I want to see shows, and if at some point I don't want to see shows, then FOMO be damned I'm going to stay home and read a book. Otherwise I get festival fatigue and hate everything, which is fine if I'm just an audience member because I can just stop, but if you're a performer then just stopping isn't an option. Obviously we're all different, but is there a chance that not having seen stacks of other peoples shows is part of your successful self-care? (When I say I'm a pretty intense festival-goer... I don't keep count because then I feel like I'm keeping score, and that's not the game I'm playing, but it's probably north of 20 shows)

Yay! Those numbers look pretty good. I'm very curious about the 17L of green tea... is that just 1 pot of 750ml of tea a day, or something more sophisticated?
