NFR Analysis- "The Next Best American Record"

I discuss LDR's use of diction, syntax, imagery, alliteration, and assonance in this NFR track. I also discuss the motif of the American Dream throughout the album.

Note- Forgive the "millennial pause" at the beginning 😭😭😭🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

love your reactions! fun fact: this song was originally meant for her previous album, Lust for Life ( titled Architecture, with slightly different lyrics and sentiments, it was more of a resentful song: the chorus being "YOU were so obsessed with writing(...) You did it all for fame... ), she had even shot a music video for this song. However, she ended up scrapping that song off of L4L and used the music video for another song from that album (White Mustang). Even though the lyrical change gives this song another dimension, I would still recommend you checking out the MV 'cause I think it helps understand the song a bit better. In fact, you can even find the music video with this song playing Also, the bridge is a reference to her own song Video Games: "It's you, it's you, It's all for you Everything I do I tell you all the time Heaven is a place on Earth with you"
