NFR Analysis- "Cinnamon Girl"

I discuss the genius way LDR uses sensory language/imagery, metaphor, and alliteration throughout this NFR track. I also discuss some of the exposition and characterization in the song.

So happy to hear your mom is going home!! ❤️ I’m catching up on videos now after a busy week but I just wanted to mention that I believe the title of this song is an allusion to a Neil Young song also called “Cinnamon Girl.” Thank you for all you do KP!!

Congrats on your mom getting to go home :) We're all super happy to hear that. She's in all our thoughts and prayers of course, and be sure to send her our well wishes. I'm just now starting the video but I wanna say Cinnamon Girl is one of my favorites on the album.

I love the use of cinnamon here as a metaphor. At first I thought that maybe cinnamon was a stand-in for figurative blood, in the sense that she had been “biting her tongue” by not telling her partner how she felt, but now I think it’s just that perfect symbol of what the relationship is. It has duality to it, the sweet AND the bitter, because she does care for this person but there just hasn’t been that complete fulfillment yet, hence a bitterness.
