HFK Analysis- "Alone" ft Big Sean and Stefflon Don

Note- Y'all. I accidently listened to and analyzed the remix version of this song 😭😭😭 I didn't realize it until after my reaction when I went to look up what Stefflon Don was saying (it was going too fast in the lyric video, and I wanted to see the lyrics written out). I Googled the lyrics, and to my surprise, there was another verse (something about Paris, more party imagery, etc) that wasn't included in this version. Also, I didn't see Big Sean or Stefflon Don's verses in the Google lyrics at all. After some research, I realized that I actually listened to the remix 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ Sorry about that, y'all! I hope you still enjoy!

2023-01-28 00:47:41 +0000 UTCThe director of the music video in the behind the scenes video for it says it’s Luna (halseys character) sneaks into a costume party and sees Solis (male love interest) and Solis thought Luna was dead (because of the previous music video, they have to be watched in order lol) and Solis has moved onto another girl and Luna feels like she’s been punched in the gut.” Halsey tells the girl actress that the character Solis has moved onto that in the video she needs to have her hands all over Solis acting like “come back” and I’m going to see it and want to come fuck you up. This is a true story so don’t do it too well or I might snap!”😂😂😂

And for the song Alone, it is the big party scene and in the BTS Halsey even mentions it being like a Gatsby party! Halsey says quote “its like moulin rouge, in the style of great gatsby, at the Romeo and Juliet- it’s my baz luhrmann’s wet dream” lol and Halsey looks SO HOT in this video lol

2023-01-28 00:32:04 +0000 UTCWhen the speaker says “he says that I never listen, but I don’t even try” I think that she’s tuning the person out to try not to hear the negative things they’re saying, specifically about our speaker. In 100 letters the speaker says “he said one day I’d realize why I don’t have any friends.”, “he says he can make me golden if I just showed some respect” whenever I sing along to 100 letters I imagine Halsey singing it while rolling her eyes and putting up fingers as quotation marks when they say “if I just showed some respect”🙄😂 so I think that could be why they are choosing not to listen. As a narcissistic abuse survivor I would try to tune out the person tearing me down while they tried to make me feel lesser.

2023-01-28 00:29:30 +0000 UTCyou should check out the music video for this song, it's heavily inspired by romeo + juliet. this entire song kind of reminds me of the lyric "who could ever leave me darling, but who could stay" - at the time this was written h was really never alone, she lived with a bunch of people (which she mentioned in the first verse) and was constantly surrounded by someone but clearly as she's saying in this song she still felt lonely. or maybe felt like most of their relationships are superficial and no one actually cares, this is a theme in this album that's gonna appear again.
