I analyze the symbolic significance in "Daylight". I also discuss the use of allusion, simile, hyperbole and diction throughout the song.

Great connection! I always love the way Taylor uses repetition in her music!

English Teacher KP

the repetition of 'let it go' at the end reminds me of the end of 'it's time to go'!

Vrinda Das

Such an important theme!

English Teacher KP

Thank you so much!

English Teacher KP

Right? I love it!

The Rep album cover art was also black and white, and the whole thing was about Joe, the same person. It makes me think that she’s saying like even in the same relationship you grow and evolve and experience new things :)

Sam Hadlock

Such a sweet song.

Just catching up with patreon now, back from the holidays. I think this song defines me so well... taylor its always so relatable with us, who grew up with her... just a great analysis teacher KP

I am so glad you enjoyed it! I agree-- this is a wonderful ending to the album! I also LOVE the idea of Reputation and Lover being sister albums! Thanks for watching!

English Teacher KP

I love this song!! It’s a brilliant way to end the album. I feel like rep and Lover were sister albums and this just sums up those two albums and her previous work so beautifully. I wasn’t sure what clearing the air I breathed the smoke meant so I love what you said about it! Makes so much sense. Thanks for another fabulous video!

I remember reading that too when I read her OG Red album liner notes. ✨✨✨

Stacey Hall

100% agree! I also mentioned how she uses the color gold in Folklore and Evermore! She really is brilliant!!

English Teacher KP

And how this theme has continued over the years. This is why her writing is so brilliant. The idea of gold or golden love shows up in reputation, folklore, and (I believe) evermore.

What's beautiful is how clear Taylor's theme comes through in this song! I l love how she references " Red". Her growth and maturity is so amazing in this song!

English Teacher KP

English Teacher KP, Taylor talks about how she views love as gold in the original Red booklet. This song really does refer back to the Red era and how she used to view love. I wish I could upload the picture where I saw it but she says "and there's something to be proud of about moving on and realizing that real love shines golden like starlight, and doesn't fade or spontaneously combust. Maybe I'll write an album about that kind of love if I ever find it." I think this context is crucial to this song and this album.
