He was keeping his word, and also, he would be the most unlikely to be chosen because he was such the trickster before. Yet, there could be a very elaborate story created with this choice!!! One the could easily segue into the Tournament of Power. That would cause Ultimate Beast Gohan to take revenge for his death, and ask for him to be resurrected, after winning the whole thing as one of the three winners... Hmmm???

Which is something that only a god of destruction can do by willingly giving his life force. The story behind that could be insanely powerful and interesting!
