Redoing the Jellybean Saga: Part 1

So, I have decided that I'm going to commit to the lengthy process of recreating a three-page arc -- the Jellybean Saga. If you need a refresher, here are those three pages!

Here are the main things that I am hoping to improve upon with these redraws.

1. I used to slap my characters in front of clip art, and it looks... just SO bad. (Clip art that I paid for! But still.) That kitchen in the first panel of the first page sticks out HORRIBLY, and those jellybean piles... Lord.

2. Some panels more than others were saved in low quality from the get-go. There is some pixelation and compression going on. The colors are also irreparably wrong, because I put so many filters on top of the artwork, which I then tried to correct later with... more filters. This is also probably what caused that pixelation.

3. It bothers me a lot that the speech bubbles are not only inconsistent with how I now do speech bubbles in TT, they're inconsistent just throughout these three pages. In one they are circles, in others they are square but do not have tails, and all of them are totally opaque. (Nowadays speechbubbles are always slightly transparent in TT comics.)

So! Where to start!

I decided I would start with making some assets. Like those poor jellybean assets that looked so awful in the beginning. The reason that I didn't make those myself the first time is because I found them too hard to draw with a mouse. So, this time I sketched them out traditionally and then added digital lineart later.

I also had an idea that I thought would add a cute detail to the comic -- what if this comically gigantic jar of jellybeans had been a present from Cecily to Courtney?

With that in mind, I made these two assets -

They're not the prettiest, most polished assets I've ever done, but they'll serve their purpose!

Next, I'm going to start thinking about that kitchen, and whether or not I want to change up the paneling in the first page.
