Video Vault: Draw Bad Good [Tutorial]
Added 2024-01-05 13:09:18 +0000 UTCThis is for all my Patrons who can't draw, and want to, or those who are just looking to loosen up their style. I'm gonna teach you to draw badly, the good way. Make your crappy drawings look stylish, embrace the skills you got and enjoy making some cool goofy art right away. This is a video for any skill level. Just my ideas and philosophy when it comes to creating.

Pens listed in the video:
I've arrived at this kit through a lot of experimentation, trying out many different pens and markers that all mix together well and won't bleed into each other. You can apply the techniques in the video to your own media but I recommend the pens that I've listed.

Been drawing for a longass time, mostly do very careful and elaborate pixelart animation but could never take my illustration seriously, maybe trough something like this I can get to a Yoji Shinkawa type style

2024-01-13 14:59:29 +0000 UTCI either put some paper under my hand or write in a "floating manner" without touching the paper.

2024-01-11 10:30:57 +0000 UTCGenuine question: being left handed, does one come into drawing/sketching with a handicap? Any fellow lefthandys know EXACTLY what I’m talking about…the old smear monster…

2024-01-06 15:02:18 +0000 UTCOne of the things i was taught with painting, was to go out into the bush or park or garden, and just pick up a random object, then bring it back and use that as a brush. But instead of just using the thing as is in the way i would a pen or a paint brush, we were told to use the faces, or break it in half and just rub it on the page, using the chaos of a tool to create organic shapes and lines. One of the funnier lessons was when we were all told to paint a canvas of the thing in the middle of the room, then told to stop randomly and go out to the garden while it was wet, and rub it in the dirt, lol, it really opened my eyes up to the texture of elements around me not just the paint or ink, but grit and flecks and flakes of stuff.

2024-01-06 14:58:17 +0000 UTCI've always be partial to BIC ballpoint pens (the super cheap packs of 20+), they tend to have excellent sketching and ink. They're less professional looking but have great adaptability. [See community tab for example images] -EDIT- Scratch that. apparently community tab is APP only now. n/m heres some links instead https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/291360062700650496/1193204754147459122/Wolfe_BICpen_30-04-2014.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/291360062700650496/1193204753757384744/Wolfe_PenBIC01.jpg

2024-01-06 14:42:01 +0000 UTCNever though to use just a wash brush with nothing to spread around, thats really interesting. (note Aldi has imitation copics "Creative PL: graphic markers" with a wash marker in there if anyone wants some cheaper options for pens)

2024-01-06 14:38:11 +0000 UTCDam.. this is actually useful, i've actually been trying to draw like someone whos just started drawing for ages and i cant stop myself correcting things. HAving your observations into how people start out drawing and your styles of teaching it, is so helpful for adding to my collection of knowledge. This should help me fix some of the bits i've been struggling with.

2024-01-05 18:18:12 +0000 UTCI'm by no means an artist, farthest thing away from it actually, but I'm doing gamedev on the side. Although this video is not about creating assets digitally, nevertheless I could extract a surprising amount of information that will indirectly help me with my goals. Also might be a start of a new hobby. Love your videos, love your vibe. Thank you so much for the tutorial!

2024-01-05 16:53:42 +0000 UTCI hope you make more tutorial stuff like this!! It was a fun way to loosen up and just doodle. Prius man had me laughing a bit too hard and this honestly helped me approach my work from a more positive angle. Thank you!

2024-01-05 16:47:41 +0000 UTCI might actually try to get back into traditional drawing thanks to that video! I stayed with digital drawing for a good while because I found traditional drawing more challenging for some reason. ^^'' Thank you for the video!

2024-01-05 15:18:18 +0000 UTCI got my start drawing abstract shapes and drawing very sloppy doodles of my favourite characters, similarly to how you described here, which helped me to learn expressions and proper lineart. These kinds of videos hugely help with contrast and variation-I’m far from a perfect artist but these kinds of tips help me to improve even more! Excellent tutorial, also very soothing cuz of the music and your voice

2024-01-05 13:46:37 +0000 UTCThank you so much for this! I used to draw a lot as a kid but between art teachers and my family I lost the motivation until here recently.

2024-01-05 13:39:37 +0000 UTCI used to draw a lot, but I've just plateaued with my skill, and I just.... Can't get better. I still find myself accidentally feathering my lines, and like, struggling to have a solid connective lines lmfao. I suuuuck with faces and eyes, but like, I adore drawing hands... It's like my favourite thing to draw lmfao
