Judy's Bedroom - Visual Development

For someone who's unsure about whether I'm doing something with this or not, I sure am expending a lot of energy on it.

Welcome to Judy's Room! This space contains a mix of Savanna Central brownstone chic with a little rustic charm from Bunnyburrow. The way I've learned to approach bgs is not to consider them as such, rather think of them as actual characters. They're not backdrops for characters, they're spaces characters live and interact in. That's made it much easier for me to enjoy this new process. But it's hard - I imagine Judy's bedroom is a reflection of her in that she's all work and a little less play, something she's probably been since a young age. The side of the room with her desk is the side she spends the most in, "bringing" work home with her to fill her free time.

Everything is loosely scaled, I'm not going for perfection with these rooms right now I just need to get the ideas out. Right now I think I'd rather make the space a bit smaller relative to her going forward. I might replace the ceiling fan with a standing one. It all depends on what fits with the narrative visually.

Board is below. I've attached a PDF too in case that makes it easier to view :3 Enjoy~!

And since the bathroom was included above, here's a reminder of the bathroom from last week.

I think I'm going to dedicate this week to finishing the remaining rooms since I'm in the zone. Feel free to ask questions below or on Discord. Have a good Monday!

I didn't know the map was made before the story o.O. The creative process is so fascinating!

Sometimes it's good to start out with the small details before starting a big story. I know Tolkien drew the map for "The Hobbit" and then wrote the story based on the map, and it was an excellent plan.

I love it! Treating the spaces as characters themselves is the perfect way to approach this sort of thing. I am observing and learning too. I've got to try this myself! Even if you're unsure how much you'll do with all this, you can always keep hold of it for use in other projects. :3
