I agree that the subs for this episode are a bit annoying. Although I must say that if they decide to watch with subtitles, it's not the end of the world

Episode 40 is another one that I might recommend watching without subtitles. There are a couple characters whose names you are not supposed to immediately know and the subtitles give it away. It doesn't really spoil anything per-say but I think it would be a better reaction without. This all being said, if you have trouble retaining information without the subtitles, I would strongly encourage re-watching it with the subtitles afterwards. Hope you are able to see this before you return from your break.

Its no obvious if it turns out he doesnt have a plan. It could be that he realized something in ep 36 and left his family because he wants to do something but doesn't have an actual plan for how to do it. It would then be revealed that he was just winging it and didn't have a plan.

What is the alternative? Hohenheim doesn't have a plan and it won't be revealed? Hohenheim doesn't have a plan and it will be revealed? Or maybe Hohenheim does have a plan but it won't be revealed? None of those make any sense. We know he has some kind of plan, he realized something in episode 36 and he left his family to do something. Robert wasn't even hinting at the future events, just stating what we already know and adding that the plan will be revealed, which is obvious.

Hohenheim has a plan and it will be revealed. However you slice it that's information about the future. It's not difficult to grasp the concept of "just don't talk about future events."

I think your point of the moral of using the philosopher's stone was really good. For Ed and Al, it's an easier moral dilemma than May because they are the only ones affected by their choice. But the fate of an entire clan depends on her decisions.
