Yesterday I spent the day filming a video in Akihabara with Natsuki for Tokyo Creative! We split into 2 teams and were each given 10,000 yen to find birthday presents for Emma. Unfortunately we weren't on the same team so I didn't get to talk to him much during filming, but I asked him if he wanted to go take some purikura together afterwards lol. It was his first time and he was so amazed by the machine, it was hilarious haha. I'm really regretting not filming the whole thing! But at least we have these amazing photos to commemorate the experience lol.
It was actually the first time in a while that I hungout with someone who can't speak much English. It made me remember why I learned Japanese in the first place. My job while I was studying at University in Canada was to tour the Japanese exchange students around my hometown and help them get settled in their homestays and feel comfortable at the school. I really pushed myself to learn Japanese so I could have proper conversations with them and become good friends. It was nice to hangout with Natsuki and remember that I'm so lucky I can speak in another language and use it to build relationships with people :)
If you're struggling studying a foreign language, try to remember all the cool opportunities you'll have once you get a grasp on it! That always kept me going. Learning Japanese really changed my life in so many good ways :)
