There’s Blue Corner Wall where the Mensa Men gather with their homiletics textbooks and where great white sharks sniff out their next meal – I mean girlfriend. This is a vast sea. There’s plenty of room for sharp teeth down here, and they’ll eat a girl whole if she’s not careful.
It’s all good, though, because there are plenty of fish in the sea…
… Unless you swim too far south and land up in The Dead Sea or you sink so deep you land up in the Mariana Trench where the aliens from Xenon live. Didn’t you see The Abyss? My unassailable point is that there are? That’s right. Plenty of fish in the sea.
It’s true that you might have to travel 5, 000 kilometres to get to your breeding ground, but there are still plenty of fish. Did you know that male anglerfish latch onto females for so long they fuse together? That way, they share circulatory systems and don’t have to bother hunting. Does that remind you of anyone, Norman?
There are salt-water piranhas and barracudas. There are tiger sharks and viperfish, but if you swim out on a summer day, you’ll find a thousand spectral colours shifting in and out of the coral like ribbons. You’ll see the sunlight waxing and waning across the current, and you’ll realise this world is exquisite enough without all those fish. This world is its own reward.
