…
-Aang-
It was a massacre. He saw it very well from atop the wall. Bodies strewn about, and the screams… Oh, the screams were horrible.
When this battle started, Aang had been worried about the casualties of the Gaoling City. But it wasn't the screams of earthbenders that were ringing out as the battle went on.
Many surprises came to light during this battle, Sokka's waterbending and how tactically pruning he was.
Still, none of that mattered now.
The Fire Nation was losing terribly, people cried out and died in terror, causing the morale of their soldiers next to them to plummet.
Sokka threw spears at anyone that seemed to be giving out orders, any leader. He was a hale storm, doing the duty of a many. His aim almost always hitting true to its target. Many corpses had their chests pierced by spears.
The Fire Nation officers noticed that their fellow comarades that spoke orders, or showed any signs that they were leaders, were getting killed. The ones who were alive didn't speak an order anymore, choosing survival over bravery. They joined the other soldiers in trying to escape.
It was like hell and the evil of humanity was showing itself in its purest form.
Aang could see each of his monk traditions shatter, the more Sokka's muddy water turned red.
What was he doing here? He was the Avatar, a Monk, someone on the side of peace, who followed the path of not killing.
Aang knew his job was to not let the other half of the Fire Nation army pass.
That was his only duty. He didn't have to kill anyone, just push them down with a gust of air.
Even as his mind was in disarray, he pushed down desperate people, some had tears in their eyes while calling out the names of their friends and family. In an army of 10,000 people, there were bound to be friend groups created, and brothers in all but blood were made.
“No! My sister is there! Please, she-”
Suddenly, a rock came from the wall and hit the man straight in the face as he looked desperately at Aang.
The attacker had been an earthbender atop the wall with Aang. He was in charge of keeping the wall standing. “Fuck your sister!” tears came out of the earthbender’s eyes. “After what you did to mine?! You think I will ever let you bastards live!”
To Aang, this was so surreal, his body was moving on auto-pilot. It was like he wasn’t in control of his own body and he was just staring from an outside perspective.
Aang knew Sokka had taken into account his unwillingness to kill and had made sure he didn't have to.
But even if he didn't kill anyone, Aang felt his mouth go dry, and his heart became heavier as time went on.
The haunting screams of desperation from the Fire Nation soldiers, the joyful laughs of the earthbenders at winning a war so decisively.
Who was right? Who was wrong?
"Fire Nation scum!"
"Die!"
"Seems like you got lost on the way home, you bastards!"
The citizens of Gaoling who were supposed to be the victims of this were yelling out curses.
"Ahhh!!"
"Please stop!"
"P-Please! I have children!" The Fire Nations' screams were haunting as the war turned into something straight out of a nightmare for Aang.
"You think I don't have kids too?!" Yelled out one of the earthbenders in anger. "But you didn't have problems coming here to burn and kill my family?! Fuck you, bastards, I will kill every single one of you!"
The man smashed a boulder against the side of the other man's head. Breaking the Fire Nation soldier’s neck with a sickening crunch.
Aang felt like throwing up. The army on the other side no longer tried climbing over the wall as they turned tail. They were terrified, this loss was haunting, like a nightmare no one could wake up from.
Aang couldn't take this anymore, his hand shook as she collapsed on his knees. Never having felt weaker than today. “This… why… Everyone, stop fighting.”
Tears rolled down Aang’s face.
Suddenly he felt a burst of energy inside of him and noticed his tattoos started shining.
After that, he blacked out.

-Sokka-
The war was going well for him, unexpectedly well. Everything played out perfectly to plan, in the best way possible.
They had killed almost a thousand Fire Nation soldiers. But his casualties? None, literally zero! Anyone that seemed like they were about to be killed, with the help of the Map he was able to use waterbending and grab them back.
The Fire Nation soldiers being in a swamp helped. They were slow, and anyone who got past the swamp was tired and they had been noticed for a long while by now. The earthbenders fought from a distance and as anyone would get close to them, Sokka would use waterbending to push them away.
No one had done anything stupid yet from Sokka’s side, so they hadn't died. To say this was just lucky would be an understatement.
Don’t misunderstand, Sokka was happy about this. The war was going on his side, the victory would be overwhelming.
People dying was always a sad thing, but he knew that it was either the Fire Nation soldiers or Gaoling Town. Because the Fire Nation seemed to want to send a message, he wasn't sure if they would spare the people of the town, that's why he had them hide in the underground secret Earth Rumble arena.
Finally, it was time for the final charge and Sokka put his hand upward. “Everyone! Now we-”
BOOOOOOM!!
It was hollowing, dark, and a strong wind swept everyone from under their feet. Suddenly the wall that separated the two armies had exploded into a thousand pieces.
The mountains shook and the earth rumbled as God-like power descended. A strong wind pushed everyone apart, even rocks or fire that were thrown at each other’s enemies plummeted to the ground, hitting nothing.
With a sphere of wind around him, Aang floated in the air, his eyes and tattoos shone in an otherworldly light.
Aang spread his arms, parting both armies apart.
Sokka's heart was almost caught in his throat as he saw what was about to happen next. His [Danger Sense] flared like an ambulance light in the back of his mind as every instinct within his body told him to run away. This presence was the strongest he had ever seen, even against the spirits he had fought until now felt like chumps in comparison.
Sokka understood right then and there, that the thing he was looking at was the closest existence to God within this world.

There was no information displayed by the Observation Skill.
"Everyone! Stop killing each other!" Yelled out Aang. As the ground shifted, the water immediately moved out of Sokka's control. Aang’s voice was like a thousand people speaking at the same time in perfect synergy. It was creepy and terrifying at the same time.
A whole river of water moved from the ground and encircled Aang.
BOOOOM!!
The earth shifted again, as with a blast of water Aang pushed both of the armies apart. An earth wall, as big as the one in Ba Sing Se, rose with both mountains acting like side pillars.
Just like that, in an instant, a structure that would take thousands of earthbenders was built within an instant.
The wall had a small opening below, enough for a train or carriage in the middle.
"Seems like this battle," Sokka sighed. This wasn’t how he wanted it to end. “It's my loss…”
Aang had ruined it, the perfect victory had turned into another Avatar miracle. Humans once again had depended upon the Avatar to accomplish anything worthwhile fighting back for.
This battle wasn’t the Earth Kingdom’s victory, it wasn’t the victory people were looking at fighting against their oppressors. It wasn’t a victory of the people taking fate into their own hands and solving their problems.
This was just another Avatar’s victory…
