The Legend of Danica
This lovely night elf wizard apprentice is Danica. As with all magical creatures in the world of Futaria, her spellcasting power happens to be stored in her, well... organs. As a young but gifted apprentice in the art of sorcery, Danica embarks on a journey to defeat the 12 witches of Futaria, and acquire their spellforce along the way. During this adventure our heroine will learn countless powerful spells, and capture many wild beasts to do her bidding. These (often times well endowed and powerful) beasts will have to be defeated in combat, and then trained and properly cared for. In dire times Danica can consume the spellforce of her minions, replenishing her health, or have a valuable weakened minion feed off her spell force. I'm talking about cum here, in case it's not obvious :D
Okay, enough of the peotic description! Combat will be quasi-turn based, as in it will have a turn based feel, but actually be real time. Think Dota but with static heroes, so no movement. Just spellcasting, ability use and autoattacking. Danica as well as her minions will be able to carry items, use abilities, and level up. The core combat gameplay mechanic will be using smart synergies when assembling a roster to fight, out of all minions that you've captured. Different opponents will require a different approach to combat.
Danica will be the main spellcaster during combat, with minions acting as physical warriors. In combat, no minion can attack the enemy mage until all of that mages minions have been defeated. Wizards have no autoattacks and rely purely on magic to deal damage, however you can opt to build a roster in which all of your damage comes from minions and Danicas role is only healing and buffing.
Cum... errr I mean spellforce, will be a valuable ressource next to life and mana, and will not replenish automatically. This means you'll have to manage it carefully, and you'll have to drain enemy bosses regularly to replenish. The role of mana is only relevant in combat.
That's all I got for now... let's hope I've got what it takes to make it as awesome as I envision it :) Coding wise I've still got much to learn, but I'm hungry! Art wise, time will be the only limiting factor. The most challenging thing for me will probably be animation, but maybe I can (atleast initially) find some techniques or workarounds that make it manageable. Should this become one of this big projects on Patreon I'd most definitely throw some of the budget at a skilled animator to help out.
Another neat idea I just had. I will make it so that the intro screen, and the intro pic of Danica, changes after every defeated major witch boss. I think that would just make it super rewarding when you open up the game to continue the adventure...
Please give me thoughts, ideas and feedback! Patrons from 5$ upwards will always be able to play the latest build. The current build will be attached in the next post!
