BioMass (Darkness)

It is kinda a new concept but it fits into the game lore I have in mind.
These blocks of biomass are formed of a type of plants that are nourished by the dark energy that flows through the island.
They have petals on their ends that shine and vibrate constantly.
Due to some unknown energy flow, these plants overload themselves from time to time and release an electric shock.
Apparently they do not represent an imminent danger like other monsters that wander through the fog. But undoubtedly they are proof that something big is happening on the island.
Some important points about the BioMass:
-The closer you are to the source, the more biomass there will be.
-BioMass energy works on the Old Technology.
-Those who Study Energy have never seen those kind of plants before.
While still loyal to the lore, it also add a good "trap" to make platforming more challenge.
And also it's a way to slow down your path.
In terms of what causes this Plants to grow, you'll have to find out in game.
