Issue 7 Cover Reveal!

This left us four days for Barry to finish lettering the issue, lay out the book, and make a PDF, and for me to buy printer paper, use the fancy printer at the theater, and staple enough issues for BwPCon. 8 weeks later, the adrenaline has worn off but I feel really proud.
I celebrated by opening the bottle I used in so many reference photos for pages 191-194.
I didn’t have any strong feelings about what to draw for the Issue 7 cover, so Barry sketched a few possibilities and we discussed them at our weekly cafe-meeting.
We wanted the cover art to show a key scene from the story. I liked the "Vote this way" sign with Captain Turtle walking across it. However, I thought that showing Captain Turtle covered in garbage would be a spoiler, and showing him looking pristine would be inaccurate. (Either is totally acceptable for a comic cover; it just would have bugged me.) I tried drawing Captain Turtle in silhouette, but his body and shell backpack didn't form a particularly clear shape. I liked the sketch with Lillian’s white-lady disguise coming off, since it teases an important moment in the story. We decided to have Lillian running in front of the "Vote this way" sign with her wig and hat coming off. By talking about what we liked and didn’t like, we combined Barry’s sketches to make something new.
